May Books

via

Someday by Karen Kingsbury (3rd out of a series of 4, but it was a gift so I read it - very touching (like tears) I enjoyed it)
Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (very good)
Raising Kids with Character That Lasts by John Yates and Susan Alexander Yates (inspiring - made me want to work on my habits)
The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian (short chapters, easy to read, and kept my mind on praying)
Underworld by Meg Cabot (book 2 in a retelling of Persephone, I like it)

5 for the month, 43 for the year :)

beautiful

Happy half-way through the week :) The bad news, I have poison ivy and it's relatively miserable. Sleep was a little hard last night. But good news, husband and I have a date night today out at Twisted Fork :)  And now, about some one else: my sister in law just recently started a blog, Learning Faith + Hope + Love, and not only am I interested because I'm interested in her, but also she and some friends have started a very neat project, and she shares some great perspectives. Happy Wednesday!

All good

Happy Monday/Tuesday :) Looking forward to a short work week! J and I had a great weekend! I'm so glad we got the opportunity to catch up with his family and get a nice visit, we had fun in Ikea, getting a few things and some inspiration, and maybe the most exciting - my younger brother got ENGAGED!! :) He surprised his now fiancee with a mountain top proposal, literally. Her family and friends helped set up a table and cooler with flowers and candles for them to share this sweet moment together. My parents attended their engagement party which sounds like it included some of the town, and loved the future part of our new family. I so look forward to meeting them someday. Hope everyone had a great Memorial weekend :)

We're leaving! Well not too far, but tomorrow morning we're off to go to IKEA and visit my in-laws. It's been a while and I'm excited to see them. I'm really happy to get a 4 day weekend with J :) Today marks 250 days of marriage for us.

It's it fun how a few changes can make your house seem fun again? I'm really enjoying playing recently, while trying to remember that home-maker, while one of my roles, is not one of the first few. I've been reading a book about the power of prayer, and it's amazing how much peace can come with praying more continuously. I'm looking forward to another Bible study tonight :)

Happy Monday :) Hope it was a good weekend! With J working nights, mine was very project driven - got things moved around the house, for a change, regardless of whether it's necessarily better, and did some painting - desk and some dresser drawers. Looking forward to getting J back on daylight hours and pushing through this week!

Happy Friday!! As I get off today, J will be going into work for night shifts this weekend. I'm looking forward to house duties and rearranging this weekend, getting some reading and tiptoeing in while he's sleeping, and other fun weekend stuff. Take care!

Do you plan? I find that while I was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type of girl back in college and soon after, I have turned into a think ahead planner. I like being able to look at J's schedule in advance, think about what we're doing each weekend of a month or two, and plan out some girlfriend dates, preferably when he's busy. Recently, I've been thinking even further. When should we move out of the townhouse? what things would impact the need/timing to move? And while I like to know what our rough idea is, or what are our feelings on different details, I also like knowing throughout my internal thoughts, or conversations with J, that ultimately, God is in control. He knows what's best for us, and I'm so thankful for that. Of course, life is still good where we're at :)

Onwards and Upwards

Today, I feel a little weird. Not really tired, but not really myself. After reading this post on Jones Design Company, I realized, I feel a little weary. I'm getting concerned about little things, things that I personally cannot necessarily solve. I want to grow in areas that with the time and energy I have, might not be the right time for. Rather than trusting, I feel guilty for being impatient, guilty for not being able to solve things, and guilty that J has to deal with my learning to deal. Lord, help me remember this is all for you, anyhow. Help me get through the little things, and trust you during the process. I am so thankful your will is Good, Acceptable, and Perfect!

Happy Fresh Monday :) and Happy Birthday to a my good friend Kara :)
We had a good weekend even though J worked day shifts. I got to leave work a little early on Friday and have a very full date night. I got to pick strawberries (yum!), errand run, run, sample the lettuce we're growing out back, go to Church, and have family over for home-pedicures. I really enjoyed seeing people and I'm glad J gets a break after working today! Congrats to all who graduated!

Mother's Day weekend

Happy Mother's day weekend! Shout out to all the women who hold such influence on our lives. I look forward to continuing to learn from mine. I love how caring, patient, and loving she is, a true woman after God's heart, enjoying life with silliness, serious conversations, service, and passion. Thank you Lord for this lady!

Looking forward to family dinner and celebrating my brother's birthday! Excited for J to get off night shifts (last one for a while is tonight!). I was recently intrigued by the idea of imaging Jesus sitting with you wherever you are. How would your thoughts and actions change? I like the reminder.

What a day it's been! Well I'm thankful for:
1. Dinner with an old friend last night
2. Coffee with a good friend tonight
3. Deeper conversations with my husband (maybe on things like the Amendment)
4. Dash is practically completely house-broken
5. A beautiful chandelier that was on sale that J let us get :)
oh! And I got asked at the dentist this morning if my brother and I are twins. Isn't that fun? (even though he's three years older) Rejoice and be glad!

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
