Tis the Season

The fun thing about living at home is coming home after being away for the weekend, to a mostly Christmas-decorated house. My mom makes minor changes to the decorations each year, making it familiar but better. This year she's been trying to add some natural touches and keeping everything relatively simple. I'm a fan. Somehow it's easier to just be in a better mood :)

Is this true for you? I think it is for me at times. As much as I want to be focused just on giving and glorifying God, I can keep tabs on whether the relationship is equal. However, I believe we're not made to hold others to our own expectations. We're not even made to hold ourselves to that standard. We're made to measure ourselves and others according to the standards set in the Bible for us, and while that wouldn't eliminate conflict, as truth in love would still apply, it would eliminate that "what about me" feeling.

Post Secret - One I relate to

I really am so awful at small talk! Bit more of a wallflower. It's something I really keep trying to work on. Fortunately I have people in my life who are quite good at it. I occasionally catch myself obviously watching their conversations, so I can better understand the flow of small talk. Something to aspire to :)

Happy Harry Potter Movie Day
I guess if I was a Harry Potter character, I'd be Luna Lovegood.
Almost done with the re-reading of the series!

Recharged
This weekend I moved nearly everything out of my apartment - thanks honey :) And found a new home for the couch thanks to my brother and sister in law! But yesterday I got to take a mental health day, and I'm so glad I did. I finally got some good down time, and enjoyed some QT with my dude. Btw, mid-November sure is lovely.

The time change seemed to really lengthen it, but this week did go pretty fast, and I'm glad to get a little downtime in what should be a pretty exciting weekend!

Jingle bell
I have Jingle Bell Rock stuck in my head. I don't totally mind though, I love Christmas. And bippity boppity boo's idea to make your own bobby pins with jingle bells. It's a swell time..

What would you do with a bay window?
Or black and white decor.
Or a wall of vintagey glass and wood.
Le sigh.

Remember remember..
..the fifth of November, the gunpowder treason and plot
I can think of no reason the gun powder treason should ever be forgot.
My brother and sister in law are hosting a Fall Fire-pit party tonight. How fun is that?? I'm not sure if it's intentional, but what good timing with Guy Fawkes day. My near by coworker was telling me this morning that he lived in Switzerland until first grade, and went to a British-ran school. Apparently they celebrated this day with huge bonfires. He said they were stick out in his memory. I'd believe that.

November is National Novel Writing Month
So Happy Novel Writing Month. Have you ever thought about writing a novel? By writing 1,667 words a day this month, you could produce a 50,000 word novel, the same size as The Great Gatsby or Catcher in the Rye. I actually wrote a 22 page story when I was in middle school. It was kinda awful; but I've started a little something for this month. Probably will only share it with J, but hey, why not give it a try?
