Travels
via
Tomorrow I'm taking vacation! Tonight, we're headed to visit J's parents to celebrate his mom's birthday and share our puppy with them. All the Frisbee people, including one of my best friends are headed to Florida today/tomorrow. My brother and sister in law are headed to the west coast. One of my MOHs is headed up north to have a fantastic visit with her boyfriend of 50 days (so fun). It's a busy traveling time - I'm praying for safe travels and for good attitudes and good memories :)

Hanging in there.. thanks husband for giving me such a great morning - coffee ready, blueberry pancakes, mixed cd of songs I jam to (for pumping up to go to work, for getting traffic to fly by, for letting go of work stress on the way home.. etc.), taking care of the pups, and just being you. Thanks baby. I'm so glad you're home :)

Happy Friday! I'll be missing my husband - he'll be sleeping or going into work for night shifts. But I have some fun things planned! I get to go dress shopping with my friend for her August wedding. I have another friend stopping by to visit little Dash. Meanwhile, I'm hoping to work on cleaning up the house a little, painting if the little guy allows, catch up on some shows or books, adopt my fellow bible study goer's resolution - to be more like a lady (I love that, and love that she's working on that), as well as remember that when my husband says something that could be mean, he's trying to joke, and if he says something that could be nice, he means it. Please lift up a prayer for my brother who's visiting in Seattle - for safety and a great experience :)

Pumpkin Thursday
I will measure
my success in this
life
and my worth
as a man
a friend
a lover
and most simply
as a
human being
by counting
the number
of laugh lines
on your
face
when old age
catches
up.

Having fun, staying busy! Having a pup in our lives is keeping us busy, and makes me want to stay home all the time with my three boys. We're carving pumpkins at work today, and I brought in some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins to celebrate.

I feel special
A little shout out:
My husband loves music. It means so much to me when he shares that with me - he adds "my music" to our itunes, uploads it to devices for me, picks up cds we'd like, etc. This morning I was listening to a cd that he made for me before the wedding. It had several of the songs we wanted included in our reception, including our first dance and runner-up first dance songs, as well as silly songs that I just love for some reason.
I've been working on painting our downstairs. I think we got to a good stopping point before getting Dash, but yesterday, on his day off, my husband worked on a few areas that needed another roll, and finished the nook that I had been working on. Even though I'm not so sure he likes painting/gets the peaceful feeling I get sometimes.
Since he's working night shifts this weekend, my husband decided to go ahead and start switching over his sleep time, and stayed up late to take Dash out during the night so I could get the sleep I need.
I feel loved. Those things are love to me :)

My hubby is working over the weekend, but I look forward to dinner tonight, and firepit tomorrow, and Sunday night together :)
A little off
Something's wrong. I feel off. I'm currently self-diagnosing myself with SAD. I've felt like my energy has been flagging for the last couple weeks. I wasn't sure if it was related to being finished with planning, or adjusting to the changes, but all my symptoms match up with those of SAD. It weird to want to do something, but nothing to really appeal to you and to be a little extra spacey. I'm hopeful for figuring something out (like making time to work out seems like it might help!), especially for my husband's sake :)

Choice

Yesterday I was feeling a little hateful towards my job. It's interesting how easy it can be to want the results, but not the hard work. I like having a job overall, and some days I like the people and the things I do. I typically feel like 8 hours is too long. That 10 hour days are way too long, and get annoyed with the hairy things I have to do. That's it "have to do." It's still a choice right? While I think it's better, I'd still like to work on my attitude towards work. I'm blessed with somewhere that I can grow, not necessarily career-wise, but as a person and in my character. That's not always fun, but a lot of it is all perspective.
"Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." -Phil. 4:8

Dance with me
Who needs an excuse
or even really a song
to ask you to dance?
or even really a song
to ask you to dance?
Last night was my first night with J working night shifts, aka my first night in our house alone. I had Sully with me, and overall it wasn't too bad, but it did feel weird! Two more nights to go. Our photographer recently blog-posted some of our pictures. I look at them several times a day. I love reliving all the joy and excitement and peace and love I felt that day, and remembering all the help and support we had from people we love and who love us. All the months of planning were so worth it. You can see our pictures here.

Micah 6:8
Tonight we have Bible study. After thinking all week, I want to focus on my favorite verse as my life purpose statement, Micah 6:8.
He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
(ESV)
But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don't take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.
what God is looking for in men and women.
It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don't take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.
